The nominations for the 77th annual Emmys were read this morning by Harvey Guillen, Brenda Song, and Television Academy Chairman Cris Abrego. Voting will run August 18th-27th. There will be two nights of Creative Arts Emmys on September 6th and 7th. The Primetime Emmys take place September 14th, airing live on CBS and Paramount+. HBO has released the first image of new “Harry Potter” actor Dominic McLaughlin in full costume. This also confirms that cameras are indeed rolling on the series which aims to retell the story of the young wizard. It’s a beautiful day on Arrakis, fellow “Dune” fans! Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed the start of production on Denis Villeneuve’s third film in the franchise. Taking it’s cues from Frank Herbert’s second novel in the saga, “Dune: Messiah,” the film will reportedly be called “Dune Part Three.”Following the completion of this film, Villeneuve will shift his attention to the next project on his docket, directing Amazon MGM’s next James Bond movie. We are very sorry to share the news that frequent Quentin Tarantino collaborator Michael Madsen has passed away.The news was confirmed by Madsen’s longtime manager, Ron Smith.With a career spanning over 40 years, Madsen was a fixture across every genre of film. He was 67.

This just in-we have some additional casting news (and possible story news!) about Chad Stahelski’s upcoming “Highlander” take. We already know Henry Cavill will lead the flick, along with his one-time film dad Russell Crowe. Today, Amazon MGM Studios officially announced that BAFTA TV award winner Marisa Abela (“Industry,” “Black Bag”) has joined the cast. She’ll reportedly play a new character in the franchise, who is an immortal teacher of swordplay, and one of “MacLeod’s past loves.”Cameras are reportedly set to roll in September of this year on the flick.

In a graphic posted to the company’s Instagram account, Naughty Dog Studios head Neil Druckmann revealed he is stepping away from HBO’s live-action “The Last of Us” series. Druckmann served as co-showrunner with Craig Mazin on seasons 1 and 2, and also penned several episodes. “I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from my creative involvement in The Last of Us on HBO,” Druckmann said. “With work completed on season 2 and before any meaningful work starts on season 3, now is the right time for me to transition my complete focus to Naughty Dog and its future projects,…
