We are SO excited for Marvel Studios’ upcoming film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Welcoming the First Family of Marvel Comics into the MCU is something we didn’t think would happen. Especially with a cast this good! This morning, Marvel Studios released a special (but short) “fantastic first look” behind the scenes featurette. It really highlights the incredible art direction and retrofuturism elements that lend so well to this story. Apple TV+ has formally announced their live-action “Neuromancer” series is in production. [Spoiler: WE. This just in-it sounds like our friend David Dastmalchian (“Dune Part One,” “Murderbot,” “Late Night with the Devil”) will play a legendary villain in the upcoming “Street Fighter” live-action film, M. Bison! The adaptation of the legendary Capcom fighting game series was originally supposed to hit theaters in early 2026 until Sony scrubbed it from its release slate. Filmmaker Edgar Wright is embarking on a new project. One we’re pretty excited for, not gonna lie. A remake of the 1987 sci-fi dystopian classic, “The Running Man,” which in turn was based on the Stephen King aka Richard Bachman 1982 novel. Glen Powell (“Hit Man,” “Top Gun: Maverick“) stars as Ben Richards, the role originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. In an out of this world pairing, streaming giant Netflix has partnered with NASA to bring coverage of launches, missions, space walks and more to audiences around the globe. Technically, it’s more of a production start notice than an actual teaser, but seeing the iconic pitchfork heel again is exciting. Fairly timely, too, as longstanding Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour has stepped down from overseeing the American branch of the fashion magazine. This just in-after what feels like an eternity in development hell, the live-action “Akira” movie is once again not happening.Warner Bros. Pictures has reportedly “given up” rights to the property. The rights have reverted back to Kodansha, publishers of the original manga the landmark anime was based on. Oscar winning filmmaker Taika Waititi had been tackling an “Akira” movie, which was being written by novelist Charles Yu (“Interior Chinatown”). When Disney announced a third film in the “Tron” franchise, we sat fully forward in our chairs. Think the Vince McMahon getting excited meme. With each new reveal for “Tron: Ares” – the creative team, casting (minus Jared Leto)- the impending thrill progressed.
