    “Wheel of Time” Recasts Mat Cauthon for Season 2 of Amazon Series

    This just in, in a surprising move that we’re not sure how to feel about, it would appear that Amazon Prime Video has recast a key role in their upcoming “Wheel of Time” series.

    Barney Harris, who played the role of Mat Cauthon in the already completed but yet to be released first season, will not be returning for season 2, which is currently in production.

    Dónal Finn, from Netflix’s “The Witcher,” will reportedly be taking over the part.

    While we still don’t have a reason, we do have a quote from series showrunner Rafe Judkins about how “seamless” he believes the change to be.

    “It’s always hard but we’re really lucky that Barney is so great in the first season; I love him in the show,” Judkins said. “And Dónal Finn, who is playing Mat in Season 2, is amazing. I have seen him up on set doing his scenes now and they’re incredible and they fully capture the character. I think it’s a testament to this character and how great the character of Mat is that it really feels seamless between the two actors.”

    “Wheel of Time” is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 19th, 2021. Season 2 is already in production.
