We are shocked, SHOCKED, to report that according to sources, Amazon Studios’ upcoming “Lord of the Rings” series will apparently film in none other than SUPER SURPRISING location- New Zealand.

Our friends over at TheOneRing.Net say an unidentified senior member of the Auckland film industry claims that a “huge” part of Amazon’s new series will be filmed in NZ. While the insider isn’t named in the source report from NewsTalkZB, they do say that says Kumeu and Auckland film studios are involved in the upcoming production.

Previously, TheOneRing had reported that the show would be filming in Scotland (which is still likely).

We’re still waiting on full confirmation about the rumor of Bryan Cogman (HBO’s “Game of Thrones“) being on board the project as well, even though it could likely be for “The Wheel Of Time“, also at Amazon.

We’ll let you know what we hear about the upcoming new spin on the JRR Tolkien world, which reportedly cost Amazon upwards of $1.4 billion to secure.
