Jon Landau Says “Alita Battle Angel” Sequel Talks are Happening

Today marks a special day for fans of James Cameron‘s “Avatar” films. The long awaited sequel (of a planned 5-film series) is having it’s world premiere in London. This means first reactions will be coming later today/tonight, but it also means the press was able to ask some pointed questions to cast and crew. Like whomever decided to ask producer Jon Landau about other films he may be working on.

“Well uh, there’s a little film called ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ that we’d love to circle back and do a sequel to. And uh, we’re talking to Robert [Rodriquez] about that, and hopefully that comes to fruition.”

Fans have been clamoring for a sequel to the 2019 film pretty much since it hit theaters. While it was a miss with some critics and not as successful at the box office as hoped, an “Alita” sequel would probably do well.

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. [See the Landau interview here.]

“Avatar: The Way of Water” hits theaters December 18th, 2022.
