Yes, perhaps we used the term ‘live-action’ to remind the House of Mouse what that actually means in the wake of such films as Jungle Book, and The Lion King. That said, Kenneth Branagh‘s upcoming film adaptation of the Eoin Colfer-authored children’s adventure story dropped their first trailer today.

The film will follow title character Artemis Fowl, 12-year-old genius and descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds. He finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a powerful yet hidden race of fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance.

The film stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, Josh Gad, and Dame Judi Dench.

Artemis Fowl is set to open on August 9th 2019.
