Mary Anne Butler (Mab) got her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine as a teenager. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (News Editor), Nerdbot (as Editor-In-Chief), and now [Bad]Influencers, where she is Editor-in-Chief. Over the past 15 years, she’s built a well-known reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band. She also produces award-winning immersive events, including Wasteland Weekend and Neotropolis.

Disney Jr. announced a slew of upcoming animated series this morning, and one in particular caught our attention. “Cars: Lightning Racers!” Apparently Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy will be reprising their roles as Lightning McQueen and Mater, respectively. This just in-Sounds like Sony Pictures Animation is developing a new animated feature based on the character of Spider-Punk from the “Spider-Verse” films. Reports indicate Oscar winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the character in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” is co-writing the script with Ajon Singh (“Primetime”). It’s early days, with little to no information about a possible plot. It’s likely Kaluuya will reprise the role of Hobie Brown in both the upcoming “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” and any possible project focusing on Spider-Punk. Yes, we know “Star Wars: Episode VI- A New Hope” doesn’t turn 50 for another two years. But that’s not stopping Disney and Lucasfilm from announcing this morning a date for a theatrical re-release of George Lucas’s classic. As part of Lucasfilm’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, over the May the 4th holiday in 2027, “Star Wars: A New Hope” will play in theaters. The re-release will start April 30th, 2027. We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news. Like whether or not it will be the de-specialized edition, which would really be something.

This morning, we got confirmation that cameras are indeed rolling on Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios upcoming “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” While it certainly is a short clip- at only 8 seconds- its an exciting reveal of a new but familiar suit. Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) will direct, and Tom Holland will return for his 4th solo outing at the web slinger.
