Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis Return for “Spaceballs: The Sequel”

    This just in-

the legendary Mel Brooks will return as one of his most beloved characters for a sequel to one of his most beloved works. No, it’s not “Young Frankenstein” (my personal favorite), nor “Blazing Saddles.” Instead, it’s the long foretold sequel to “Spaceballs!”

While we don’t know if “The Search for More Money” will actually be the title, we do know Brooks will once again play Yogurt.

Perhaps the the most EXCITING bit of rumored news is the return of both Bill Pullman AND *drumroll please* Rick Moranis as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet, respectively. Moranis famously retired from acting, aside from reprising the Darth Vader parody character in voice over for “The Goldbergs.” We should point out Amazon MGM Studios has not confirmed the additional casting yet.

Josh Greenbaum is directing, from a script by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad. Gad, who is no stranger to comedy, is also rumored to star. Brooks will also produce.

    **UPDATE**

It looks like Lewis Pullman (“Top Gun: Maverick,” “Thunderbolts*“), son of Bill Pullman, will also be on cast, reportedly playing the son of Lone Starr and Vespa (Daphne Zuniga).

“Spaceballs: The Sequel” will hit theaters sometime in 2027. Check out Amazon MGM Studios’ video from this morning:
