Earlier this year, the internet was ablaze with rumors of a possible super-casting choice with Star Trek 09’s Captain Kirk, Chris Pine.  He was reported to be courting the Lantern Corp, as the new Justice League’s Green Lantern, and also as Wonder Woman’s main mortal love interest, Steve Trevor.

In a recent interview with French magazine Premiere, Pine has confirmed his involvement with the Wonder Woman standalone film, but not his actual role:

“Okay. I don’t know too much what I can tell you. I am really excited, for sure, Gal Gadot is really talented, Patty Jenkins is going to direct, and we are going to shoot in film. What excites me the most is to be in a film with a woman super hero. With a woman in the lead role. I’m on a team with this intelligent, beautiful, strong woman to destroy evil and save humanity–the usual.”

Sure, there’s no set mention as to who Pine will be playing, but the confirmation that he’ll be in the film is the news here.  Nice to know the title is finally moving forward, after many roadblocks.

The new DC Universe continues in theaters next year, with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opening on March 23rd, 2016.  Wonder Woman is set to open June 23rd, 2017.
