Will Smith Teases Starring in New “The Matrix” Project

The first bit of Hollywood news to have us scratching our heads in 2025 has to do with Will Smith and “The Matrix.” Maybe you’re asking yourself what one has to do with the other. Perhaps you didn’t know, but Smith was originally offered the role of Neo. He ultimately turned down directors Lana and Lily Wachowski, and made “Wild Wild West” instead. Of course as we know, Keanu Reeves took the part, and the rest is box office and cinematic achievement history.

This morning, Smith posted a very interesting video. In it, he recounts that bit of casting-that-almost-was, and teased something new. (Will’s wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, starred in “The Matrix: Reloaded,” and “Revolutions” as Niobi.)

We’ve been hearing rumors of a new “The Matrix” project ever since “Resurrections” released in 2021. Nothing is really concrete yet, but we’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
