We are very sorry to share the news that actor Tony Sirico has passed away. Arguably best known by American audiences for his role of Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri on HBO’s “The Sopranos,” he also stared in Martin Scorsese‘s “Goodfellas.”

”It is with great sadness, but with incredible pride, love and a whole lot of fond memories, that the family of Gennaro Anthony ‘Tony’ Sirico wishes to inform you of his death on the morning of July 8, 2022,” Tony’s brother Robert Sirico announced the news on his Facebook account.

Robert also mentioned memorial donations may be made in Tony’s honor to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Hospital, and the Acton Institute.

Several of his costars shared their thoughts and memories online, like Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperioli, who both co-stared with Sirico in both “Goodfellas” and “The Sopranos.” Steven van Zandt, another “The Sopranos” alum, also shared the screen with Sirico in “Lilyhammer.”

RIP Tony Sirico. Legendary. Silvio’s best buddy “Paulie Walnuts” in The Sopranos, Frankie “The Fixer’s” older brother Antonino “Father Tony” Tagliano in Lilyhammer. A larger than life character on and off screen. Gonna miss you a lot my friend. Deepest condolences to the family. pic.twitter.com/pAkDnqfLEs
