The Castaways Restaurant high atop Burbank was the location, the backdrop of the city at night is amazing and beautiful.  The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films host an awards show every year.

Last week, The Saturn Awards celebrated their 40th event, and I was lucky enough to attend both the red carpet and the ceremony.  Nominations for the 2014 film/tv list can be found here.

Here is a gallery of my evening, featuring cast members from The Walking Dead (who took home three awards), Teen Wolf, Kickass, a Ghostbuster, Bryan Fuller, Kristin Chenoweth, and other familiar faces:

I also got to meet Guardians Of The Galaxy writer/director James Gunn.  Gabriel Olsen who shoots for Getty Images took this for me, thanks pal!

Despite this article’s headline, the full list of winners can be found here.  I would like to point out that normally a “snub” at an awards show means no nominations at all, and that simply wasn’t the case.  Star Trek: Into Darkness had at LEAST two nominations that I recall being read aloud, so, Giant Freaking Robot looses 50 points from Gryffindor.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) got her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine as a teenager. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (News Editor), Nerdbot (as Editor-In-Chief), and now [Bad]Influencers, where she is Editor-in-Chief. Over the past 15 years, she’s built a well-known reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band. She also produces award-winning immersive events, including Wasteland Weekend and Neotropolis.
