Terrence Howard And Anna Paquin Join Amazon’s Other Philip K Dick Series

Ronald D. Moore, the man behind the successful relaunch of beloved science fiction tv series Battlestar Galactica, is at it again with groundbreaking episodic scifi.  Sure, he’s got his sporran full right now with STARZ’s Outlander, but the next big thing on his dradis just happens to be an anthology series for Amazon based on the works of Philip K. Dick.

If that name doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps you’d be more familiar with Blade Runner, or Man In The High Castle?  Blade Runner was loosely based on Dick’s “Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep” and remains one of the touchstones of science fiction film that transcends genres.  The same can be said of several of Dick’s written works, and they resound more now than ever before.

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams is being brought to the streaming service by Moore, along with Bryan Cranston, Michael Dinner and Sony TV. Each episode of the show will be a stand-alone, based on Dick’s shorts stories as adapted by a writers room made up of British and American writers.

Today it was announced that Anna Paquin and Terrence Howard are joining the series, and will appear in an episode titled”Real Life.” She’ll play Sarah, a policewoman living in the future who shares headspace with George (Howard) a brilliant game designer, as each pursues violent killers whose plans could have shattering consequences. In a race against time, sharing a bond that no one else can see, they learn the very thing that connects them can also destroy them.  Early reports state that various directors will be tackling two episodes a piece, and for “Real Life”, Jeffrey Reiner is in the director’s chair.

The cast list thus far is nothing to scoff at, including Mel Rodriguez and Vera Farmiga for episode “Kill All Others” directed by Dee Rees, Annalise Basso and Maura Tierney in episode “Safe and Sound” directed by Alan Taylor, Essie Davis, Liam Cunningham and Ruth Bradley for “Human Is” directed by Francesca Gregorini, Richard Madden, Holliday Grainger, and Anneika Rose are in for “The Hood Maker” directed by Julian Jarrold.

Needless to say, this series is shaping up to be pretty interesting, and the 2017 fall tv season can’t come soon enough.
