There are many truly iconic film openings in the history of cinema, and one that I always bring up is the opening of Terminator and T2.  I’m really hoping the newest film in the franchise Terminator: Genisys adheres to the more classic feel.

Today, we get our first look at Oscar winner JK Simmons as Detective O’Brian while talking to Sarah Connor, as played by Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones:

Directed by Alan Taylor, the franchise reboot is billed as a remix of the 1984 original, with resistance leader John Connor (Jason Clarke, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) sending loyal soldier Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney, Divergent) from the post-apocalyptic future back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones) from a Terminator programmed to kill her.  The film also stars Matt Smith, Byung-Hun Lee, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Terminator Genisys is set to open on July 1st, 2015.
