STARZ’s Outlander Season 3 Trailer Is Here!

STARZ’S hit series Outlander is gearing up for what looks to be a pretty incredible season three of the show. After much teasing and waiting, the first trailer for season 3 JUST HIT:

In an effort to drum up viewership for their newest historical drama series The White Princess, STARZ tempted fans of Outlander to watch the premiere episode with rumors of a new Outlandish trailer.  This of course backfired, kind of, with the trailer being nothing more than a 30 second tease (but OH BOY THOSE 30 SECONDS WERE GREAT!) that turned out to be exclusive to STARZ subscribers.  In other words, not available *legally* online until the network releases it.

Lynette Rice from Entertainment Weekly had tweeted shortly after the teaser aired that the ‘full trailer would be available tomorrow morning on EW’, but the original tweet has been deleted.  It read like there would be an additional trailer, a ‘full’ trailer, not just the 30 second teaser.  (I can’t be the only person who read it that way, and maybe that’s why the tweet is no longer there.)  Rice’s breakdown of the teaser is pretty great, though.  She doesn’t give away any juicy tidbits for non-book readers ahead of the season.

Showrunner Ron D. Moore took to his twitter last week for a little Q & A while he was in San Francisco for a Giants game.  Some great responses for fans of the books, some teases, even some Carnivale love!

Official STARZ synopsis for season 3:

In Season Three of Outlander, the story picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?

The series is set to return on Sunday September 10th at 8pm ET on STARZ.
