It looks like another Oscar winner may be heading to the Star Wars galaxy, if early reports from Variety can be believed.  A report this morning names Forrest Whitaker as being “in talks” to join the cast of the first spinoff of the third generation of Star Wars films, Star Wars: Rogue One.

Disney and Lucasfilm had no comment on the casting, yet.

We do know the film will star Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn, with Gareth Edwards directing.  Early reports from Star Wars Celebration back in April say Rogue One revolves around the heist of the Death Star plans by a group of rebel fighters, with Jones starring as one of the rebel soldiers.

Star Wars: Rogue One will take place in the timeline between Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.  Maybe we’ll get to see how many Bothans really died to bring Mon Mothma and the Rebels those plans.

Rogue One is scheduled to blast into theaters on December 16th, 2016.
