“Star Trek 3”: Simon Pegg Co-Writing Script

If you’re not a fan of the JJ Abrams vision of Star Trek, you may not want to continue you reading because this has to do with the third installment of Bad Robot’s Trek franchise.

Originally, Roberto Orci had been on board the JJ-Prise as director for the 3rd Star Trek.  As of December, Orci had departed the director’s chair and gone back to his executive producer’s desk.  On December 22nd, we learned that Fast & Furious 6 director Justin Lin was taking over.

The state of the script, however, has been unknown.  Until today!  Deadline reports Simon Pegg who plays classic Star Trek engineer Scotty in the rebooted Star Trek films will be co writing Star Trek 3 with Doug Jung, creator of the TNT series Dark Blue.

I’m wondering if Pegg will go with his comedic style for this script, something we’ve seen very little of in this new Trek universe.
