    ‘Sopranos’ Prequel Film Has a Release Date, Shortened Name ‘Newark’

    Sounds like the Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark finally has a release date from HBO and NewLine Cinema. Oh, and a title change, as it’ll now be called Newark, so says Deadline.

    Alan Taylor is directing The Many Saints of Newark from a script by The Sopranosseries creator David Chase, and producer Lawrence Konner.

    Corey Stoll and Billy Magnussen are also on board, joining the previously announced cast of Vera Farmiga, Alessandro Nivola, Ray Liotta, and Jon Bernthal. Reportedly, Chase hand-picked Nivola to play character Dickie Moltisanti, father of Michael Imperioli‘s The Sopranos character Christopher Moltisanti. Michael Gandolfini, son of the late James Gandolfini, playing young Tony Soprano.

    According to Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter, The Many Saints of Newark will be released on September 25th, 2020.

    NEWARK, the SOPRANOS prequel starring Alesandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, will be released on Sept 25, 2020
