There are times when a historical period drama hits you right in the modern “feels”, and the new series from the Starz network based on the best selling and award winning series of novels by Diana Galbaldon (who I was lucky enough to interview last month) is one of the most resent examples. I’ve read all the books in the series, my fiancé listens to them via Audible, the voice actress is surprisingly pleasant, truth be told. I consider myself a fan of the outlander universe, and most certainty the characters. When it was announced that Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Helix was helping this tv adaptation, I got really frakking excited.

Last night, there was a red carpet premiere party and showing of the pilot, with a small ceilidh by Emmy award winning series composer Bear McCreary.

I’ll publish my full review when it gets closer to the premiere date, but book lovers, you will not be disappointed by the casting, the sets, the writing, nor the music. The witches dancing at Craigh Na Dun is the most magical scene I think I’ve ever watched in a tv show, completely entrancing and etherial.

I also have a pressroom with the cast and crew later today, so expect more news and further photos later!
