Rosario Dawson Confirms, Then Takes Back John Bernthal “The Punisher” News

C2E2 happened this past weekend in Chicago. As often happens, panels with guests resulted in a mixed bag of ‘news.’ Maybe you saw the Chris Claremont thread, maybe you heard about a Marvel Studios actor ‘confirming’ some upcoming Disney+ news.

Rosario Dawson, who starred as Claire Temple across several Netflix Marvel series, may have jumped the gun. During her panel on Sunday, she seemingly confirmed her return for a Disney+ revival of “Marvel’s Daredevil.” And, another Defender’s return as well- John Bernthal as The Punisher.

Taken as-is, seems like a pretty solid confirmation, right? Everyone sure thought so. Until this morning, when “Ahsoka” star walked back her statement. Also, she chalked it up to “intel from fans.”

    I can’t be trusted…!
Getting intel from fans during signings is iffy apparently.
    My bad.
    I get excited.
Confirmation is key when you’re told what you want to hear…

Don’t be too discouraged. It’s likely Bernthal may show up in a future Disney+ Marvel Studios series. We know Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are both back as Daredevil and Kingpin respectively for “Echo.” (Of course D’Onofrio reprised his role for “Hawkeye,” and Cox did the same in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”)

Also also- it seems pretty likely Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage may be returning, too.

So, this is possibly a case of Dawson saying more than she should, which wouldn’t be the first time.

You can catch all the Marvel’s “Defenders” series on Disney+ now. “Echo” is currently eyeing a 2023 debut. Cameras started rolling on “Ahsoka” earlier this year, so we expect 2023 for that one as well. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
