A Rogue One Sequel? Yes, It Was Seriously Brought Up

So it seems that people aren’t really clear on the story flow of Rogue One – it’s the story about the events leading up towards Episode IV: A New Hope. However it seems it’s been brought up so often that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had to speak to the question in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. She confirmed that there will not be a Rogue Two. Director Gareth Edwards takes it further commenting that any sequel would obviously have to be directed by George Lucas (meaning that it would be A New Hope).

That doesn’t mean there couldn’t be other similar interim films, such as the time between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, or the sacrifice of the “many Bothans” needed before Return of the Jedi. Don’t worry, the House of the Mouse will be cranking out more Star Wars universe films than audiences can shake a lightsaber at.

With the above said, what other films would be kind of non-starters for having sequels?

    • Titanic (it was actually one bantered about as a TV series spinoff focused on Rose)
    • Passion of the Christ (oh wait, Mel Gibson is working on one)
    • Gladiator (there was actually a script Gladiator 2: Christ Killer)
    • Knowing (what, about the few dozen kids that made it off-world?)

What other films would be unlikely to get sequels?
