One of the ultimate live concert films, “Queen Rock Montreal” has gotten an epic remaster, and will be released for the first time in IMAX! This 4K remaster was apparently tailored specifically for the IMAX screen, complete with 12-channel surround sound, crystal-clear images, and customized theater geometry. “This larger-than-life, front-row immersive experience” consists of footage from a pair of Queen performances at Montreal’s Forum in 1981.

“I don’t think we quite realized it at the time, but this film has preserved one of the highest peaks in Queen’s touring life, on stage in the old glory days,” guitarist Brian May said in a press release. “The director [Saul Swimmer] was very much focused on Freddie [Mercury], and this now stands as probably the most precious intimate capture ever of Mr. Mercury at his full awesome power.”

Tickets are on sale now via IMAX’s website here. Showings are currently scheduled to run for four nights only; January 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2024. Check out the trailer now:
