So sure, we’ve known for years that Pixar has the ability to play on audiences heartstrings like nobody else. Sure there’s other studios that are decent at it, but really, after the emotional impact of the first ten minutes of Up, in what’s effectively a silent film, they’ve earned the mic-drop. For Mothers Day, they’ve taken it out for another spin and pulled together a great montage celebrating many of the mothers from their various films.

While Disney tends to do a great impersonation of DC Comics in having most mothers be dead to motivate their characters, in the land of Pixar, they’re mostly alive and well (Nemo’s mom notwithstanding). The endcap is the character Miguel from Pixar’s upcoming film Coco giving his grandmother a kiss.

Coco is due out later in ’17, and we’ll probably get more about it once we’ve made it through the upcoming media blitz around Cars 3. The Coco synopsis reads as:

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colourful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Character actress Renée Victor also joins the cast as Abuelita, Miguel’s grandmother.
