Something we didn’t know we needed- a prequel animated film about everyone’s favorite Space Ranger, Buzz Lightyear! He’ll be voiced this time by “Captain America” star Chris Evans!

Think of this as something akin to “Galaxy Quest” in a way, where the character of Buzz Lightyear first introduced in “Toy Story” in action-figure form, was a real space hero from an existing property!

Here’s a first look of the young test pilot that became the Space Ranger we all know him to be today. Lightyear launches into theaters June 17, 2022. pic.twitter.com/Ho2ChPrQbx

Evans REALLY wanted to make sure we understood this is about the origin of the human Buzz Lightyear, not the toy.

It’ll be directed by “Finding Dory” co-director Angus MacLane.

“Lightyear” is set to hit theaters June 17th, 2022.
