Paramount Pictures is moving ahead with another entry into their modern “Pet Semetary” installment, announcing a follow up film is on the way with director Lindsey Beer at the helm. This is exciting for a number of reasons, number one being that the original 1989 film based on the Stephen King story was helmed by Mary Lambert. The other more annoying modern reason being that really poorly thought out comment from Jason Blum from a few years ago: “There are not a lot of female directors period, and even less who are inclined to do horror.” (Yes, really.)
That idiotic notion aside, having a young, female screenwriter-turned-director tackle a notable property (even a sequel), is a wonderful idea that we can totally get behind.
While not much is known about this followup to 2019’s modern take, we are hearing that this will likely be a prequel to that one.
We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other film news.
