New York brewery Ommegang has another Game of Thrones brew on the way to celebrate the 8th and final season of HBO’s high fantasy drama series; For The Throne Golden Ale.

Ommegang's Newest 'Game of Thrones' Brew: For The Throne Golden Ale

This is the 14th beverage the brewery has released under the partnership with HBO and Game of Thrones, and we’re pretty excited about what Ommegang President Doug Campbell had to say about it:

Winter is here, the Wall has fallen, and the final battle for Westeros is underway. With this offering, we have bent the traditional boundaries of beer-making, co-fermenting traditional ingredients with juices normally destined for fine wines, going to great lengths to create a truly unique, special beer. This style of beer often called an ‘oenobeer,’ is a rapidly expanding area of study for us. For The Throne is our first of co-fermentation beer of 2019 and the only one we’ve launched under the Game of Thrones banner.

Vice President of Licensing and Retail at HBO Jeff Peters also offered his thoughts on the announcement, saying:

“In the course of planning out the next beer in our amazing collaborative partnership with Brewery Ommegang we asked the brewers ‘What would Ommegang do for the throne?’ Their answer was to brew this exciting and innovative co-fermented beer so that our fans can raise a toast to the culmination of their beloved series this spring. Every bottle, every pour, every toast, every sip… For The Throne!”

You can read more about the flavor profile of the ale on Ommegang’s website here, as well as check out their beer finder for locations near you that carry the brews.

We’re hoping For The Throne will pair well with any of the Game of Thrones-themed scotch whiskey which is finally rolling out to stores. (We’ve got a bottle of both the Cardhu Gold Reserve House Targaryen and Dalwhinnie House Stark Winter’s Frost on our bar right now!)

Oh gosh. We still have our amazing Targaryen red to crack open too!

Whole lotta boozing going on around here when Game of Thrones premieres on April 14th, 2019.
