Nintendo Acquires Dynamo Pictures, Launches Nintendo Pictures

After decades of planning, Nintendo has finally acquired their very own animation studio. Dynamo Pictures has produced pieces for Final Fantasy 13-2, Metroid: Other M, and more. An announcement indicates the new venture will be called Nintendo Pictures, once the deal completes.

This could be good news for the entertainment giant- having an in-house option for cut scenes. But calling the resulting studio ‘Pictures’ is interesting. Does this possibly point to the company as looking towards animated films? We think it does.

Nintendo also acquired SRD Co. Ltd earlier this year. Another longstanding partnership, SRD worked on such iconic titles as Donkey Kong, and Super Marios Bros..

If accepted and approved, the deal is expected to finalize sometime in October of 2022.
