Remember how excited we all were for HBO Max’s “Mortal Kombat” last year? The trailers looked good, the cast was promising. All in all, it was kind of the perfect reboot idea. But, we know it didn’t quite get the KO we were hoping for. New Line, however, is confident what everyone needs is a second chapter. Confirmed this morning, a sequel is definitely in the works.

Reportedly, “Moon Knight” scribe Jeremy Slater will be penning the script. Slater has some good titles under his belt, like adapting “The Umbrella Academy” as well as “Uprising” for Netflix, Stephen King’s “The Tommyknockers” for Universal and James Wan.

The end of “Mortal Kombat” teased the arrival of game character Johnny Cage, so it’s probably a safe bet he’ll appear in the sequel.

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news.
