Netflix Announces “The Sandman” Physical 4K, Blu-ray Release

Remember when Netflix was JUST physical media? Yeah, we know, “let’s get you to bed, Grandma.” BUT IT REALLY WAS! There was a time you’d have to wait to get DVDs in the MAIL; those neat red and white envelopes promising an evening in front of the tv. While the streaming giant does, on occasion, release things on physical media, it’s a rare occurrence.

Which is why we’re pretty excited to share the news “The Sandman” series is getting a 4K, Blu-ray release!

Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series written by Neil Gaiman (“American Gods,” “Coraline“), “The Sandman” is a rich, character-driven blend of myth and dark fantasy woven together over the course of ten epic chapters following Dream’s many adventures (plus a bonus episode featuring two fan-favorite stories). When the Sandman, a.k.a. Dream (Tom Sturridge) — the powerful cosmic being who controls all our dreams — is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for over a century, he must journey across different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence has caused.

There will be two bonuses included, “The Sandman: Behind the Scenes Sneak Peek” and “The World of The Endless.” Also, yes, the special 11th episode “Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope” is included as well.

    “The Sandman” Netflix, Amazon

The complete first season is available to stream (obviously) on Netflix now. You can pre-order the UHD 4K, Blu-ray, or DVD from Amazon here. It’s expected to start shipping November 29th, 2023. Season 2 will theoretically start production as soon as the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes complete.
