Imagine if you will, the chance to film a promo for your favorite tv series in full costume- in this case, HISTORY’s Vikings. Aside from the awesomeness of a super-fan getting the chance to film said promo, it was an auspicious occasion; Craig the boom mic operator’s first day on the job.

Perhaps you’ll notice that Craig (a VERY TALL gentleman) looks an awful lot like Vikings star Alexander Ludwig, who plays eldest son of Ragnar Lothbrok, Björn Ironside.

Hi my name is Craig the boom operator…and we’re gonna prank some #vikings fans who thought they were coming to shoot an online promo for the next season but we had other plans….#november28 this is a little behind the scene clip of what we had in store. was a riot and everyone was such good sports.

Kudos to the unnamed fan’s patience, and to the crew for keeping the secret long enough for the payout when Ludwig revealed himself.

Vikings returns to HISTORY for season 5b (the back half of the season) NEXT WEEK, on November 28th.
