Marvin Lee Aday, known by the stage name of Meat Loaf, has passed away according to his family via a statement from his longtime lawyer, Michael Greene. He is most famous for his “Bat Out of Hell” album, which still stands at the #4 position of highest selling albums of all time (with over 44 million albums sold worldwide). He is also recognizable from his role as Eddie in the 1974 midnight cult-classic of all cult-classics “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

Sources indicate his death was Covid-19 related. He had previously been quoted as saying “If I die, I die, but I’m not going to be controlled” in regard to vaccinations.

    His family issued a statement:

We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man. From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!

It was further noted that Aday had, “passed away surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends.”

Meat Loaf’s stage presence was all the more clear when bursting onto the big screen across from Dr. Frank-N-Further (being played to the nines by Tim Curry in full drag) as biker-turned prototype-Rocky) fully brings down the house and steals the show.

Prior collaborator, Cher took to Twitter to express her shock at the news.

Had So Much Fun With Meatloaf When We Did “Dead Ringer”. Am Very Sorry For His Family,Friends,& Fans. Am I imagining It, or Are Amazing Ppl In The Arts Dying every other Day⁉️

Right now, I’m signing along to his “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” all the while smiling thinking about how everyone has their own spin on exactly what “that” is for us.

And of course it would be remiss not to at least do one pass dancing and singing along to “Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul.”

Meat Loaf, you will be missed. He was 74.
