A piece of heroic history from the galaxy far, far away has been found, and will be going up for auction. This is one of the iconic props from “Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope,” and we’re excited to see what it’ll go for. If you’ll recall, in the closing scenes of the 1977 film, a ceremony takes place to honor those who destroyed the first Death Star. Called the Throne Room (probably because of Princess Leia Organa presiding over the festivities), special medals are handed out to Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, thanking them for their service to the Rebellion, and marking them as heroes of the New Republic.

Don’t worry, Chewbacca did eventually get his, too.

Luke Skywalker’s Medal of Yavin has been found, and will be up for bids during Propstore‘s upcoming entertainment memorabilia auction later this year.

The tease of the catalog offers a bit of insight about the item, as Propstore remarks there were only two of these medals made for the production. The one given to Luke, and the one given to Han. This is the one given to Luke.

This particular item is unique, in it’s provenance. It comes from the personal collection of Gerard Bourke, prop master on “Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope.” Pretty hard to top that. Early estimates have this at possibly going for $300,000-$600,000. (Worth noting the white gown worn by Carrie Fisher in the same scene went up for auction at Propstore in 2023. It did not sell.)

Another notable piece of “Star Wars” history is also listed- the bowcaster carried by Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew)!

The estimate for that piece is $250,000 to $500,000.

Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles takes place from March 26th-28th, 2025. We’ll let you know when the full catalog gets updated.
