“Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim” Helm’s Deep Anime Coming

We can’t believe this is an actual, real thing we’ll get to see! A deep dive into “The Lord of the Rings” lore is coming in anime form, the story of Helm’s Deep and the War of the Rohirrim! The animated project is coming from Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema.

Kenji Kamiyama (“Akira,” “Ghost In The Shell”) directs from a screenplay by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance“). Philippa Boyens, Oscar winner who co-wrote “The Lord of the Rings” feature films, is consulting.

Reportedly, this anime will be a companion piece to Peter Jackson‘s incredible “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy from New Line Cinema.

Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation said in a press release: “This will be another epic portrayal of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world that has never been told before. We’re honored to partner with much of the incredible talent behind both film trilogies, along w/ new creative luminaries to tell this story.”
