Kevin Feige Says Marvel Studios Still Using James Gunn’s ‘Guardians 3’ Script

There still seems to be a lot of back and forth from Marvel Studios as to whether or not the existing script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 by James Gunn will be used. Thankfully, it sounds like Kevin Feige has cleared THAT part up, as well as a bit of insight into just how much of an influence Gunn was on the cosmic side of the MCU.

Kevin Feige Says Marvel Studios Still Using James Gunn's 'Guardians 3' Script

While speaking with CinemaBlend, the Marvel Studios boss commented that perhaps Gunn’s involvement was “slightly blown out of proportion”:

His influence was Guardians. It was Guardians. It was his input on Guardians and the Avengers films, as you’ve seen in Infinity War, and on the Guardians 3 script, which we’re still using. So you’ll see that influence. I think online, sort of the notion of ‘architect across multiple cosmic things’ was slightly blown out of proportion.

Fans can take that however they like, as other Marvel Studios directors have attested to Gunn’s supposed influence on their films, but at the same time correcting the assumption of his genesis of Marvel’s Phase 4 cosmic films.

Things are still very much up in the air right now on the likelihood of Guardians 3 anytime soon, but star Chris Pratt assured fans that it will indeed be happening.

The next Marvel Studios film, Captain Marvel, will hit theaters on March 8th. Avengers: End Game will release on April 26th, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th.
