Disney is still in the process of purchasing FOX Studios and assets, as far as anyone knows, and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has commented on the likelihood of those FOX-owned Marvel characters appearing in the MCU films.

As you more than likely know by now, this past weekend was an all Marvel extravaganza pair of press days that are still yielding tidbits of interesting MCU news, some of which are answering questions.

While responding to a question about whether or not the Disney purchase of FOX would complicate the existing plans for the MCU roster of films, Feige said:

“No, because any of that deal would take a while to get going and years from whenever and if ever it happens. So, certainly it won’t impact the five movies we’ve announced, and it probably wouldn’t impact anything for a handful of years after that.

Because really, we’re not thinking about that.

We’re thinking of delivering on what we promised. Any movie, especially for any characters we don’t have the rights to yet until someone tells us we do, would be even further after that.”

His use of “if ever” maybe the most telling, or just echoing the fact that no one really knows the current state of the deal, even though Disney did file papers three days ago with the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding the acquisition.

The Playlist went on to ask Feige if he had any favorite FOX-owned characters that he’d love to get his hands on.

“No, I mean, I think those are tremendous characters. I’m not going to pick one over the other of any of these characters because it’s too hard, but my career started with those characters on the X-Men films.”

It makes sense that with the deal largely in limbo, it would remain business as usual at Marvel Studios. Their next giant blockbuster superhero feat Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters later this week on April 27th.
