A piece of Walt Disney Animation history is getting his own starring vehicle. No, not another member of Mickey Mouse’s usual inner circle of Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Goofy. But rather someone who’s roots run deeper at the House of Mouse. We’re talking of course about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit!
Apparently “The Mandalorian” guru Jon Favreau has written a live-action/animation hybrid series about the character, and will produce for Disney+.
Oswald was created in 1927 by Walt Disney. He starred in 27 animated shorts! Universal Pictures took control of Oswald in 1928, prompting Walt to create the Lucky Rabbit’s replacement- Mickey Mouse.
We don’t know much about the project yet, other than Favreau’s writing and producing involvement. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
