Remember back in February when Netflix announced that Tim Burton was working on a live action “Addams Family” project? Well as of this morning, we can officially report that Jenna Ortega (“Scream,” “The Fallout“) will be taking on leading role of Wednesday Addams in “Wednesday!“

Announced this morning by Netflix, Ortega was shown holding a script for the series in this tweet:

Ortega shared the same images on her Instagram, saying “New chapter. Hope I can do Wednesday Addams justice. *snaps twice*.

Creators Al Gough and Miles Millar serving as showrunners.

From the official announcement, we can see that Burton will be directing the live-action series for Netflix. It’ll be 8 episodes, and there was even a logline released:

The upcoming eight-episode series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body.

We don’t have a release date yet, or any other casting, but we’ll let you know what we hear.
