Jeff Bezos Files Suit Against Elon Musk for NASA Lunar Contract

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is really pissed off that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was awarded the official NASA contract to build crucial parts of a future lunar mission. So much in fact, that Bezos’s Blue Origin has filed a 50-page protest of the contract award with Government Accountability Office.

This is like the ultimate James Bond film we’ve been waiting our entire lives for. A fever dream delight of an epic reboot of “Moonraker” with billionaires.

The $2.9 billion contract was awarded to SpaceX to design the lander that NASA will use to transport astronauts back to the moon. The company, who has successfully reused rockets multiple times, will reportedly be using their Mars mission Starship rocket design. Blue Origin submitted a design that looked far more traditional.

The protest, which the New York Times alerted us to, stems primarily from Blue Origin’s bid for the project, which also included three big name companies who often work with the US Government on such things- Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Draper.

Musk has since tweeted his very real and non-jokey response to the protest news…

Can’t get it up (to orbit) lol
