    This just in-

that long-dormant “Spawn” film set to star Jamie Foxx is still in active development. Kinda. According to an announcement from creator Todd McFarlane, Todd Silver, Malcolm Spellman, and Matthew Mixom are picking up the pen to write a new script. Last we’d heard, Brian Tucker was handling the screenplay, but that was back in 2021.

Silver co-wrote “Joker” with Todd Phillips, a project that garnered a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nomination for the pair. Spellman recently wrote Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” for Disney+, and is currently working on “Captain America 4” for the franchise. Mixom is sort of the new kid on the block, but has some interesting shorts and docs under his belt.

McFarlane actually credits “Joker” as a catalyst for the project continuing; the R-rated comic book based film as a “turning point” in the genre. “Why not just go for the guy who wrote the movie,” he quipped to The Hollywood Reporter. (He still hopes to direct “Spawn.”)

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news.
