    UPDATE

After publishing the following article on March 1st, I received an email to my personal account from Alex Govoreanu, the CEO & Co-Founder of Questo. I will include both that email and my response, in which I offered to update this piece with any new information or media the company wished. There has been no response as of March 5th.

We all get those weird sponsored ads on social media, right? A specialty pet food, a pair of themed socks for a show you’ve been binge watching. Or maybe you, like so many others, just got a sponsored ad from an immersive event company using AI art to sell tickets to a Wizard of Oz inspired experience, that has serious Glasgow Willy Wonka vibes.

First announced back on January 30th by Questo, the event is using very badly AI-generated artwork to get people to buy tickets to their event. There are SO.MANY.CITIES. across various countries listed as hosting versions of “The OZ Escape,” we couldn’t keep count.

The Los Angeles event, which is listed as “almost sold out” (pretty sure every location says that) is listed as happening on June 1st. There is no actual location listed, kids and pets are welcome, and it mentions that attendees will be “guided solely by our immersive mobile app.”

The streets of your city will become a magical world of Oz during this outdoor escape room-style experience.
You will use your phone to follow hidden clues, solve witty puzzles and complete fun challenges as you walk around the city.
Follow the iconic team of misfits on the magical road and escape from Oz before the witch has her way! The event is entirely based on the original The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel by L. Frank Baum.
You can play at your own pace or against the clock to compete with friends or hundreds of other teams.

Soooo if you want to live your own Willy Wonka Experience nightmare- the Fyre Fest for Kids- we guess…have fun?
