Handmaid’s Tale Lists Alexis Bledel As Series Regular For Season 2

Hulu’s dystopian series The Handmaid’s Tale based on Margaret Atwood‘s 1985 novel certainly made an impact on viewers and critics alike.  Perhaps the timing of the series release made all the difference with the USA election results and the current political climate, but the intensity of the series and the cast brought it to the forefront of the virtual watercooler.

The first season of the show on the streaming service did extremely well in the viewership numbers, prompting a second season order around the release of the third episode.  Readers of the original source material KNOW how the story ends, and how far the show has diverted. Not a lot, really, but most definitely opening the door for future seasons and episodes.

It was announced today by Hulu that series guest star Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls, Sin City) has been bumped up to a series regular for season 2, meaning we’ll get more of her character Ofglen.

Ofglen’s story in the first season was heartbreaking.  Knowing the character outline in the novel, seeing what series directors and writers did with the groundwork paired with Bledel’s performance certainly made me want to know/see more.

The season 1 finale left a lot of questions for viewers, and opened the door for several possible continuing storylines for characters.  Hopefully, we’ll get more resolution for our main character Offred (Elizabeth Moss) than we did in the book, since there is pretty much none.

We’ll keep you updated as more information about Handmaid’s Tale and other returning tv/cable/streaming series become available.
