ITS A HALLOWEEN MIRACLE. Clive Barker, one of the great Masters of Horror, is returning to one of our favorite dark, demonic characters- Hellraiser. Barker is reportedly joining the executive producing team for HBO’s upcoming “Hellraiser” tv series, with “Halloween” reboot helmer David Gordon Green directing.

The series will be written by written by Mark Verheiden (“Battlestar Galactica“) and Michael Dougherty (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters“).

It will NOT be a reboot or a reimagining, but rather a “continuation” of the existing Pinhead and Cenobite lore.

Clive Barker reportedly said he was “delighted the Hellraiser mythology is seeing a new life. It’s time the stories went back to their roots. I’m eager to bring to a new audience the most powerful and ancient elements of horror: the darkest evil invading our human lives and how we must find in ourselves the power to resist it.”

This is perhaps a good time to revisit the still-ongoing “Hellraiser” legal battle. Back in December of 2019, Barker served the defendants Park Avenue Entertainment with a statutory termination notice, seeking to end the use of his Hellraiser rights and materials by the defendants, and to have them revert back to him.

This suit came right after Spyglass Media confirmed their work on a new reboot with David S. Goyer and director David Bruckner, as well as HBO announcing their plans for the already-mentioned tv series.

With Barker’s involvement, I guess we know which project he has more faith in.

We will of course let you know what we hear about this project.
