In an ongoing debate for the ages, Marvel fans may get another clue as to who Peter Quill’s dad is.  Well, at least in the cartoon realm.

Disney XD’s animated Guardians Of the Galaxy series has cast Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: Next Generation) as J’Son King of the Spartax Galactic Empire, and Star Lord’s father.  Frakes guest-stars on the March 13th episode, the first part of a significant storyline this season where Star-Lord (Will Friedle) goes missing during an investigation on Spartax and the rest of the Guardians head off to rescue him.

“I’m thrilled to be part of another great sci-fi franchise. And I’m also lucky that the character of J’Son just happens to sound like me,” Frakes says.

This isn’t his first delve into the cartoon realm, Gargoyles fans will never forget Frakes as the evil-yet-good-yet-evil Lex Luthorian David Xanatos, one of the main antagonists for the stone by day warriors by night creatures.

Guardians of The Galaxy airs on Disney XD on Sundays.
