[Editor’s Note: This piece about Games Workshop celebrating their 500th store opening comes to us from Bleeding Cool contributor Jessica Dale.]

Games Workshop has come a long way since its inception in 1975. Not only are they celebrating their 53rd year of bringing exciting and entertaining table top and board games to the masses, but on September 29th, they opened their 500th brick-and-mortar store! To commemorate this incredible accomplishment, Games Workshop is holding a 500th Store Celebration on October 20th, at every store across the globe.

GW has gone all out to honor their remarkable achievement, including free swag for those first lucky few through the doors of each GW store and two brand new minis produced specifically for this prestigious event. Both Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar players will be represented in the limited edition minis, with hobbyists being able to buy these awesome minis on October 20th only. Seriously, Games Workshop has specifically stated that each store will have a limited amount of the two miniatures for purchase day of, HOWEVER, if you still want to be able to display or play with these beautiful models, you can order as many as you’d like as long as you physically go into the Games Workshop or Warhammer store on Saturday.

I know you’re sitting there saying ͞blah, blah, blah, get to the good stuff! What free swag and sweet minis to I get for standing outside of the store in the wee hours of the morning in the cold?͟! For Age of Sigmar fans, Garkorr, the Bladegheist Revenant will be a welcomed addition to any Nighthaunt army, and with the Primaris Lieutenant leading the battalion, Warhammer 40K enthusiasts can slay heretics across the universe. Each of the miniatures will have a $35 price tag, making them more than reasonably comparable to the current models of their respective types. Besides, how often can you say that you have a mini that was only available for one day?

Apart from the two models, each store will have a limited number of artwork prints and a beautifully crafted metal 500th store celebration pin. The postcard sized prints come in a set of 6 and have art represented from both Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar. All of the swag is in extremely limited numbers per store, so really, instead of staying up late to assemble or paint your models tonight, gather up a travel kit, get some sleep, and get out to your local Warhammer or Games Workshop store in the morning to hobby while you sit in line!

I’m positive that it will be worth it.
