    “Gambit”: Production Suffers Another Loss

Things aren’t looking good for the Fox Studio X-Men spinoff Gambit.  The Channing Tatum starring (and produced) solo film featuring the popular X-Men comics character has been having no shortage of issues this year.

Originally, it had been reported a few weeks ago that the film’s star and main financial backer (Tatum) had left the project, leaving it starless.  That of course was cleared up, the Magic Mike XXL star’s calendar was tight, but they’d managed to move things around a bit to allow to accommodate the breakneck theatrical release date of October 2016.

As of today, Gambit is without a director. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) exited the project today, after preliminary filming was pushed from November of 2015 to spring of 2016, citing previous contractual obligations were now in conflict with the movie.

No word yet on who the replacement may be, or if the release date for the film will be pushed back.
