The release of Dr. George Miller‘s next “Mad Max” film can’t come soon enough. I mean we’ll always wait for another chapter from the Wasteland, but, we’re just really excited for this one. Titled “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” it is a prequel of 2015’s absolutely incredible “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Telling the story of Imperator Furiosa (an Oscar worthy role originated by Charlize Theron), expect to see new locations and characters, but perhaps some familiar ones too.

Anya Taylor-Joy “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” Warner Bros. Pictures

Anya Taylor-Joy was tapped to play the younger Furiosa, a move that both saddened and excited fans. We all kind of hoped for more Theron, but, as this is a very different timeline, a recasting makes sense. (We’re still kind of hopeful a flash forward happens to include Charlize.)

This film is set 15 years before “Fury Road,” and 45 years after the collapse. It will show how Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.

Chris Hemsworth as Dementus “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” Warner Bros. Pictures

Tom Burke (who replaces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) will also star. Chris Hemsworth is confirmed as playing Dementus, a character from the “Mad Max” video game who is eventually killed by Scabrous Scrotus. We also have it on good authority that Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson are reprising their “Fury Road” roles as Rictus Erectus and the Organic Mechanic, respectively.

LOOK WHO’S BACK AT THE CITADEL “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” Warner Bros. Pictures

Jenny Beaven, who won an Oscar for her incredible costume work on “Fury Road” (and most recently did “Cruella” for Disney) has confirmed she’ll be designing. Tom Holkenborg, aka JunkieXL, will also be returning to the “Mad Max” family to score this film. [OMG please tell me that version of “Man Who Sold The World” will be IN the film?!]

“Furiosa” is expected to hit theaters May 24th, 2024. Check out the second trailer now:
