The next Disney classic animated film to get the live-action treatment just dropped a trailer, and we’re excited to see what “Mulan” has in store.

Liu Yifei (also known as Crystal Liu) will be picking up the sword to play Hua Mulan, daughter and warrior. Disney went on reportedly a worldwide search to find the perfect person to play the feisty and honorable lady, settling on newcomer to American cinema Yifei.

Niki Caro (Whale Rider, Zookeeper’s Wife) is directing the film for Disney. Rick Jaffaand Amanda Silver (Jurassic World, Avatar sequels) are penning the script, after being brought onto the team in 2015 to rewrite the existing spec.

A young Chinese maiden disguises herself as a male warrior in order to save her father. A live-action feature film based on Disney’s ‘Mulan.’

Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Yoson An, Xana Tang, Jason Scott Lee, and Ron Yuan are also set to appear in the film.

There are still conflicting reports as to whether or not the songs featured in the animated version will make an appearance, and we probably won’t know until the actual release date.

Mulan is slated to hit theaters on March 27th, 2020.
