There are few actors in this world who can swear as elegantly as Sir Billy Connolly. The 76-year-old actor, comedian, author, and performer has a new special coming this week to BBC Two Scotland, “Billy Connolly Made in Scotland”.

Be advised, there is a TON of swearing, in both this teaser snippet and in the special itself, so, be prepared for that:

“That’s poetry whether you like it or naw”

    Warning: contains poetry and swearing.

There is also a new book, accompanying the BBC TV series:

Coming Home is Billy Connolly’s insightful, moving and very funny account of the stuff that really matters. Family, love, sex, health, football, fishing, work, art, swearing, banjos, friends, going to the pub. And good tea. Connolly’s book, currently available now.

The documentary was filmed shortly after his 76th birthday, and the comedian does not shy away from speaking about his Parkinson diagnosis, nor his fear of death:

“My life is slipping away and I can feel it and I should. I’m 75 and I’m a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning. But it doesn’t frighten me – it’s an adventure and it’s quite interesting to see myself slipping away, as bits slip off and leave me, talents leave and attributes leave.

It’s as if I’m being prepared for something, some other adventure, which is over the hill. I’ve got all this stuff to lose first, and then I’ll be at the shadowy side of the hill doing the next episode in the spirit world.”

Billy Connolly: Made in Scotland airs Friday, January 4th 2019 on BBC Two Scotland.
