Apple TV+ Orders 2nd Season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”

It’s one thing to add the word ‘legacy’ to a project. And another thing entirely when it’s with a TRUE legacy character or property like, oh, say, “Godzilla.” Considering the true and awesome resurgence of this particular Kaiju (who, let’s be honest, has never FULLY gone away), 2024 has been a banner year for the King of Monsters.

Apple TV+ knows this, and has officially ordered a second season of their live-action series, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” While not ENTIRELY about Godzilla, he does play a pretty big part.

“‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ has left an indelible imprint on the hearts, minds and imaginations of audiences around the world, led by the brilliance of Chris, Matt, Kurt, Wyatt and the incredibly gifted talented cast and creative team,” Morgan Wandell, Head of International Development for Apple TV+, said. “We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in season two, but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise, as we expand Legendary’s Monsterverse.”

Hold up, did he just say expand? As in…more?!

Turns out the streamer has struck a new multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment. This actually includes- aside from season 2 of “Monarch“- multiple spinoff series based on the franchise.  There’s not a lot of information yet about what those spinoffs may be, but, there’s so much to borrow from!

Season 1 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is available to stream on Apple TV+ now. We’ll let you know what we hear about season 2, and all the other pieces of the Monsterverse. “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is currently in theaters.

Also, c’mon Apple. How about some more “For All Mankind?”
