Tony Gilroy, creator and showrunner for “Star Wars” offshoot series “Andor” had some things to say today. While on the WGA, SAG-AFTRA picket line in New York City today, Gilroy touched on his own personal connections to the guild. He’s second-generation, for starters. He’s been a member for 35 years and counting.

Yes, production on “Andor” season 2 didn’t immediately stop when the strike was called, but it was shortly thereafter.

Gilroy says the WGA is “older and it’s wiser, but its also younger and more passionate,” and faster on its feet, compared to the last strike in 2007-2008.

“We are the content,” he said. “It is our ideas. we are the natural resource from which the product is made and we are tired of being strip mined.”

As to the near constant stream if misinformation and spin coming out of the Penske Media conglomerate of outlets, there was some chatter, too. “The negotiators on our side need to know that our resolve is there,” Gilroy said. “They need to know the bots on the Deadline columns and comments are just a bunch of shit, to know that the dissension is something they’re trying to foment, its not real. And we’ve gotta hang in there.”

“Andor” season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+. We’ll let you know what we hear about the ongoing strikes and other news.
